Canyonlands National Park

Today I ventured forth into Canyonlands National Park. As I entered the park at the Island in the Sky, the rain began to fall. I attended a ranger talk with ranger Chris. He discussed the big horn sheep population at the park and how encroaching domesticated sheep almost wiped out the natural herds because of food source competitions and foreign illnesses. The BLM lands surrounding the park now only allow cattle to graze. Canyonlands only receives about 9 to 10 inches of rainfall a year. This morning, they received 1.25 inches....wet fun. The clouds finally began to clear as  I was nearing the end of my visit. By the time I reached Upheaval Dome, the clouds had all but vanished. They made for some cool, if somewhat gloomy, pictures.
